MyDragonfly Rose Gifts

The park just called to tell us that a tree fell on the pavilion. We are moving the party to Kieran's house. Lady Cris will be contacting people individually from the list of people who signed up saying they were or might be coming, to get them the address. If you don't get contacted, drop her a message at the North Georgia Solitaries Facebook Page or a phone call or a text at 404-723-6015 so she can get you the address.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

NGS will be having a family picnic in the park. My Dragonfly Rose will be there with their unique jewelry designs. Come out and celebrate Litha by socializing with friends and family. If you can't purchase anything, no worries. If you can, remember that proceeds will be going to the Pagan Assistance Fund. Real goal of this day, food, fun, and family. The PAF will have coolers with water, soda and juice for purchase.

Potluck - bring great picnic food.

Please RSVP here if you are coming with your potluck selection so we can plan and make it a great party!

REVISED:

We are suggesting that since there isn't a playground that you bring toys for your children that are good "outside" toys. We are going to try and keep the running around and playing outside. Also, seating is limited - bring camp chairs and parking is limited so carpool if you can.

A special thanks to Corey Frison for inviting us out to the event and sharing his table with us. Without him we never would have made so many wonderful contacts!

We've done the Flea Markets, we've done the Festivals, and we've done the House Parties, so what was next on our rapidly extending repertoire? Conventions! What better place to vend at for your very first convention than Through the Veil at the Hilton in Atlanta?

We made so many wonderful friends, contacts, and met so many wonderful people who loved Laurie's pretty shiny baubles, it was definitely a learning experience and very eye-opening. For some of us at MyDragonfly, it was even spiritually unblocking and uplifting! We are definitely considering going back again next year.

While there we heard a lot of talk about why we should go vend at DragonCon, so that is definitely a possible future venture worth looking forward to.

In the meanwhile, we are still looking for people interested in hosting House Parties for us, as well as any information about local festivals or conventions that are looking for a jewelry with Laurie's unique talent. From regular to spiritual and even steam-punk inspired jewelry, soaps, and lotions, everything she makes is absolutely gorgeous (in either beauty or scent) and definitely should not be passed up! Her pieces are selling quickly, so make sure you come out to one of the days listed under our Events page and see what she's got! Each piece is one-of-a-kind so once it sells, you'll never see it again! If something she makes speaks to you, make sure you say something about it!

We are also beginning to do equal-worth bartering based on the monetary value of what we are bartering with. So if you see something you like on our table(s) and you have art or services of equal value you'd like to trade instead of paying cash, bring it to our attention. There is always a way you can help MyDragonfly. Just wearing our pieces is walking advertisement for us! :)

We also want to thank everyone who has been following us for the last year, and those who have been with us since the very beginning back in 2005. Your support means a lot to us, and we hope to continue having it!

Beltane Bash was SUCH a hit! If you couldn't attend this year, you definitely should next year! The First Annual Beltane Bash was started as a way to celebrate Beltane and act as a Fundraiser for the Pagan Assistance Fund, it ended up becoming a meeting place for one large community family! The children's activities were wonderful (thank you Michelle Gannon) and they were fun for all, even those of us older generations who are still kids at heart, haha! The Maypole Dances were absolutely gorgeous and a source of much fun and laughter for all.

The crowning of the May Queen and her King lead in to a dance by them at the Drum Circle later on that evening (congratulations Melissa Reed and Zachary Reed!) The vendors there were all so wonderful and we saw so many different crafts by so many different people. The turnout was small, but it was just enough for such a lovely, relaxed community gathering. Everyone was able to enjoy themselves thoroughly, and soon EVERYONE was dancing around the Beltane fire and then the festival REALLY got going!

If you really enjoy music/drumming, dancing, and overall fun, then Beltane Bash is just the place to be! The food was wonderful, a special thank you to all who donated to that.

Kira from Kira's Cross Cultural Dance Company began the evening by performing a beautiful energizing dance full of empowerment and positive energies, which only lead further into an evening full of fun, excitement, and the obvious passion that everyone has for community ,and the love for one another. People got out there and dance to their heart's content, being cheered on by everyone, the circle was full of love and encouragement.

We look forward to seeing what next year's event has to offer, and we are very proud to have been a part of this first annual event. The donations received through the event to the Pagan Assistance Fund allowed us to meet two of our goals of meeting the State and Federal requirements, so as soon as the paperwork is all filled out and filed, PAF will officially have reached Non-profit status! We're all excited to see what this means for the Assistance Fund as well as the overall community!

North Georgia Solitaries is the creator of the Pagan Assistance Fund, a program designed to give resources and aid to Pagan families in crisis and assist other organizations in the community that bring aid and comfort to Pagans in need.

Some of our current projects are below:

  • Toys for Yule - We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for Pagan children for Yule. We will be collecting these toys all year. You can drop your toys off at any booth at Pagan Events that are ran by a member of the Atlanta Pagan Round Table, or at any booth ran by North Georgia Solitaries. [A list of members and booths, while not complete, will be provided. This list will be constantly changing, so keep checking back!]

  • Compassion Crafts - We will be taking donations of knitted or crocheted caps, scarves, blankets, etc. for Pagan chemotherapy patients, elderly and others who's bodies don't keep them warm enough. We will also be taking donations of yarn and other knitting and crochet supplies. You can turn them in to any of the below members/booths/locations.

  • Church of the Spiral Tree (CST) Pagan Prisoner Ministry- We are collecting paper, envelopes and stamps to assist the Church of the Spiral Tree in getting their newsletter in the hands of inmates that have requested it. We are holding a book drive to help get Pagan and Wiccan books into the libraries in the Prisons. Any books will do. We will take non-pagan books and swap them on swap sites or sell them on Amazon to turn them into Pagan or Wiccan books. You can turn them in to any of the below members/booths/locations.

  • Tabs for Pagan Assistance Fund - Bring your can tabs and we will turn them in to recycle and let that money go into the Pagan Assistance Fund. You can turn them in to any of the below members/booths/locations.

  • Publications - We are putting together a recipe book, spell book, ritual book, children's activity book, and coloring book to use as a fundraiser. We would like to have submissions from all over the community to fill these books.

Red Top Mountain State Park

Last year, Pagan Pathways Festival was held at Litha, also at Red Top Mountain. It was a wild event with a larger turnout than we had expected. We had very wonderful volunteers helping us out, and Lady Chris spared no expense in making sure that North Georgia Solitaries' first annual Pagan Pathways event went off without a hitch. It was a huge success!

The nature of Pathways, originally called "Turning of the Wheel" was to have one per season, so now as we make our way around the wheel we come to Yule! This year Pagan Pathways will be hosting a Party for Yule at Red Top Mountain State Park. It's sure to be loads of fun! We are always striving to take the next step forward and to help the community and its resources grow! If you're interested in helping to plan or organize this event, please contact Lady Charissa.

Proceeds go to the Pagan Assistance Fund.

Atlanta Friends Meeting House Big thanks to Emerald Rose who will be headlining the event! More information coming soon on vending and entertainment. Check back here for updates...

All over the world, local coordinators host Pagan Pride celebrations. Pagan Pride Day fosters dignity in Pagan identity through education, activism, charity, and community.

Atlanta’s 2010 Pagan Pride Day event included a public gathering where Pagans could network with each other as well as a food drive to share our abundant harvest with others in need. Atlanta Pagan Pride Day benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank by asking participants to bring a minimal donation of non-perishable food, collected on Pagan Pride Day and delivered to the Food Bank.

There were also merchant booths, classes, music and dance performances, and many other activities.

About the National Pagan Skills Leadership Conference

For the past six years, the National Pagan Leadership Skills Conference has been a collaborative effort by five Pagan Community Organizations. Beginning in 2004, the groups worked together to produce a conference designed to address the growing need for practical skills in the Pagan Community. Hosted in Richmond, Virginia, the PLSC has provided intensive instruction on such subjects as Event Planning, Non-Profit Accounting, Publicity and Public Relations, Conflict Resolution, Group Facilitation, Legal Issues, Campus Organization, Pastoral Care, and more. The conference has always been open to all who are interested in shaping the future of the Pagan Community, regardless of their individual or organizational tradition, path, or affiliation.

Since 2000, Pagan Community Organizations across the Mid-Atlantic have been hosting annual interfaith leadership conferences to collaborate on defining and meeting identified needs. What we learned was that there was no shortage of passionate people in the Pagan Community who are willing to do what it takes to help our community grow even farther, and that, despite what many Pagans believe, we can work together towards common goals while still respecting our various differences. We also discovered that there was a great need for the practical leadership skills involved with building and running a Pagan Community Organization.

In 2004 and 2005, four organizations -- Carolina Spirit Quest, The DC Radical Faeries, The Open Hearth Foundation, Inc, and PagaNet, Inc. -- came together to design and host a training conference to teach classes specifically tailored to meet the specialized needs of covens, churches, groves, circles, land sanctuaries, community centers, and social organizations. Many present and future leaders joined us for intensive, "nuts and bolts" training in the skills needed to create, maintain, and strengthen local Pagan Community Organizations.

The project was an overwhelming success. We don't really remember any decision involved in continuing; we just didn't stop. The work involved in putting on a four-day conference is considerable, but each year we leave excited about the next. We now are planning as far as three years ahead, and rotating classes so that returning attendees always have new material to learn.

We like to think that our continued existence is proof that with the proper skills and planning, the Pagan community can accomplish amazing things. We have successfully negotiated hotel contracts because we understand event planning and legal skills. We attract new attendees each year with Publicity and Public relations. We are able to budget carefully thanks to non-profit accounting. Our organizational structure is such that we are not dependent on any single individual or group for success. When PagaNet, Inc. began changing its focus, they withdrew from the planning committee, and we were able to adjust to the change without complication or drama. Our relationship with PagaNet (now LISTEN Media, Inc.) remains strong, and they continue to sponsor the conference. Beginning with the 2007 conference, we invited SpiralGround, whose founders had been underwriters and volunteers since the beginning, to join the planning committee.

Partly because of the training that the planning groups and their governing Boards have received over the years, these organizations have become busy, productive, and focused on meeting the needs of their own members, and in 2009, the decision was made to disband the intergroup agreement and have the conference produced by a private company owned and operated by people who have been intimately involved with PLSC and its planning since the beginning. With the full support and interaction of the original planning groups, Eldritch Ventures is responsible for the 2010 National Pagan Leadership Skills Conference, with a continuing commitment to the original mission & vision, but with more freedom to invest the time, attention and resources required to make attendance at PLSC a worthwhile investment that is relevant, significant, and valuable to each registrant.

Come share the excitement, expand your horizons, enrich your vision, and develop your leadership skills with us at the 2010 NPLSC... Help us Build a Leadership Bridge to the Future!
